Travel Trend: Surge In Hotel Bookings In The New Year & Upcoming Possibilities
by adminThe past year witnessed the highest number of domestic hotel bookings after the previous tedious years of the Covid pandemic. As per reports in 2022, India recorded exponential growth in the hotel and domestic travel sector to not just hot tourist spots but also to lesser-known cities in the country to make use of long weekends and Covid relaxations.
As per trends, the domestic travel industry witnessed massive growth in the months of May and June, when people were noted to have made bookings in cities like Hathras (Uttar Pradesh), Karaikudi (Tamil Nadu), Srinagar in Uttarakhand, Sasaram (Bihar) and Tenali (Andhra Pradesh) while the larger Metros such as Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore recorded growth in bookings for business travel.
Meanwhile, people were also seen leaning towards making spiritual trips in the last year. A high number of hotel bookings were noted in cities like Varanasi, Tirupati, Puri, Haridwar and Amritsar. The domestic tourism sector boomed especially in the last week of December when hotel bookings witnessed a boom in popular destinations like Goa, Gangtok, Manali, Agra, Dalhousie, Shimla, Dharamshala, Waynad, Ooty, Mysore, Dehradun and Darjeeling.
With airline bookings surpassing pre-Covid levels, the travel industry is set to witness a further boost in the current year and we can expect to witness more hotel bookings with eager travellers making the most of their day-offs with near and dear ones!
